The CBP One app, designed to schedule appointments at one of the 8 land entry ports in the United States, will soon undergo significant changes, as reported by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

According to the latest update from the DHS, there will be two changes that will take effect starting March 4, 2024.

These changes will aim to reduce the schedules for making appointments and to modify registrations for travel groups.

If you are a Cuban migrant in Mexico and intend to schedule an appointment, we suggest you read this article to the end.

Reduction of Schedules for Making Appointments in CBP One

One of the problems faced by those who need to schedule an appointment through CBP One is the time window offered by the app.

Until now, it is almost 24 hours, a fact that causes system congestion given the large number of people using the app for the same purpose and at the same time.

Therefore, the DHS determined to reduce this time window to achieve more efficiency and security in the process.

“…starting Monday, March 4, 2024, non-citizens from central and northern Mexico can request CBP One appointments between 12 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time, every day,”

said the DHS.

From March 4, interested parties will have only 11 hours and 59 minutes to secure their appointment.

Modification in Registrations for Travel Groups

The second change that will be applied on the same date is the modification in registrations that can now be made in groups, that is, travel groups that share a destination address in the United States.

This provision simplifies the process for family members or companions traveling together and intending to head to a common point within the U.S. territory.

The measure includes a geolocation check and life verification, to combat fraud in registration and confirm that the applicants are authentic.

In fact, all registrations and accounts identified as fraudulent will be deleted.

The DHS indicates that you must first include everyone in the registration and arrange your group appointment, and at 12 p.m. the next day, appointments for a group of registered users who requested the previous day would be assigned.

If accepted, you would know immediately, and if not, you could try again “again during the 12-hour period from 12 p.m. ET to 11:59 p.m. ET every day to be considered for the 12 p.m. ET assignment on the next schedule day,” indicates the DHS.

Beyond this updated information about the changes, it is reminded that the application to use is the latest version, that is, 2.57.0, which can be downloaded for free.
