Literary authorities in Cuba announced the main proposals for activities that will take place at the 32nd Havana International Book Fair.

The fair, taking place from February 15th to the 25th, will repeat some usual actions and proposes other new features for the meeting of reading enthusiasts, promoting the slogan “Reading is building identity.”

As new features, Reading Classrooms are being promoted, which will operate not only in the capital but also in the rest of the country, where students and teachers will exchange about this important language skill.

The more than a thousand titles that will be available to fair visitors this time include the digital modality, to acquire them both physically and online with cards.

Also in this sense, a virtual store will be inaugurated, which can be accessed from this link, and work is being done with Ruth Casa Editorial, Citmatel, Abril, and other platforms to bring books closer to internet users.

QR codes will be enabled for the purchase and download of books, and printed copies can be purchased by transfer.

In addition, it was announced that the public will be able to download from the web for free during the presentations of the copies.

Cuba keeps its 186 publishing labels open, and its System of Territorial Editions has been incorporating into the production of digital books, seeing it as an opportunity because the digital book travels at a speed and distance that the physical book cannot.

said Juan Rodríguez Cabrera, president of the Cuban Book Institute (ICL).

It is one of the most important new features of the fair in 2024: digital books, more reach, and more readers in the internet era.

In general, the country’s most important book fair event will maintain its usual venue located at the San Carlos de La Cabaña Fortress and will have 17 other venues, including the Cuba Pavilion, which will host the Provincial Fair, an event parallel to the international one.

Conferences, tributes, presentations, meetings of writers, and other dynamics will become usual in those 10 days in which the book will be the center of attention, and where Brazil, the honored guest country, repeats this honor for the second time.

Since mid-January, ticket purchases have been available in libraries and on digital platforms such as La Papeleta for the value of $15.00 CUP daily and $100.00 CUP for permanent ones, reminding that children under 12 will have free entry.

Those wishing to purchase them at the venue will be able to pay there, either in cash or by transfer.
