As had been promoted since the end of January, the Spanish tour operator Enjoy Travel Group would open a new air route to Cuba.
The official dates for these flights have been announced, as well as the frequencies and other important characteristics of interest to travelers who decide to embark on the route.
Interestingly, it will constitute an added option to the existing ones between Spain and Cuba and will enter the category of accessible tourism during the summer months.
The flights, starting on June 29 of this year, connecting the capitals of both countries on Saturday afternoons, will eliminate physical, sensory, or communication barriers for those who have some physical or motor limitation.
The inaugural flight of the route will depart from Madrid and will be available until September 7, a tourist operation that will be carried out on an A330-200 aircraft of the company Plus Ultra with a capacity for 288 passengers, of them 24 in Business class.
The agreement would not only involve flights but also the connection to the airport from various Spanish provinces using the high-speed trains of Renfe and Iryo.
Travelers from Asturias, Catalonia, Galicia, Valencia, and Andalusia will benefit from this type of agreement, signed for the first time in the Iberian country.
These people would board the trains from their provinces of origin with improved connections to Madrid and from there connect flights to Havana.
Hoteliers Meliá, Iberostar, Blue Diamond, and Kempinski would benefit from the decision, as it is expected that this strategy will increase the number of tourists to the island in 2024, a goal that, according to MINTUR’s forecasts, could reach 100,000 visitors this year.
“Traveling unites us,” the motto of the Spanish tour operator, comes very much in tune with this tourist operation almost at the doorstep, which will offer everyone the possibility to enjoy the beauty of Cuba and its people on equal terms.
