JetBlue Will Cut and Reduce Up to 20 Routes: Check if It Affects Your Travel Schedule and What You Can Do

The American airline JetBlue Airways will cut and reduce about 20 routes, affecting thousands of people who travel with it within and outside the United States.

The company indicated that it would try to boost its profits with the changes, and for this, it was necessary to eliminate various domestic and international flights from Fort Lauderdale Airport in Florida.

The provisions will also inevitably affect other airports in Los Angeles, especially those scheduled towards South America.

This measure will start from June 13, at which point flights from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood to Atlanta, Austin, Kansas City, Nashville, New Orleans, and Salt Lake City, Newburg will be canceled.

In the same month, other international flights will be disabled, specifically from the same point of origin to Bogotá, Quito, and Lima.

But not everything will be about reductions, as the airline, at the same time, plans to increase trips to the Caribbean, including routes to Cancun, Montego Bay, and Punta Cana, among other destinations.

It is anticipated that during the winter, JetBlue will add flights to Albany, Buffalo, Providence, and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Authorized voices from the company argued that the decision responds to the poor performance on short-haul routes within the United States and in South America.

However, experts indicate that this could be due to the recent breakup between JetBlue and Spirit, for which it will have to pay 69 million dollars and the poor state of its air fleet, which will also be reduced by at least 15 airplanes.

According to the official statement, “the termination resolves all issues related to the transaction and under which any claims between them will be mutually released.”

Yet, the information does not specify what will happen to customers who regularly travel with the airline on any of these flights.
