Are you enrolled in Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program? If so, you need to be aware of the recent adjustments in payment dates for the upcoming months and the reasons behind these changes.
Beneficiaries of SSDI and SSI receive monthly economic incentives depending on age, type of illness or disability, and work history, providing stable and effective financial assistance to vulnerable individuals.

Why the Changes?
The payment dates for June, August, and September have been adjusted due to the execution modality of these payments based on the beneficiary’s date of birth and the coincidence of fixed payment dates with non-working days.
June Payment Schedule
Typically, SSI payments are made on the 1st of each month according to the Social Security payment calendar. However, this does not apply when the 1st falls on a weekend or a holiday.
In such cases, the payment date is moved to the previous business day. Thus, the payment scheduled for SSI beneficiaries on June 1st, which falls on a Saturday, will be made on Friday, May 31st.
For those receiving SSDI payments, the payment will be made on Tuesday, June 18th, instead of the planned date of June 19th, as June 19th is a federal holiday (Juneteenth, or Emancipation Day). The payment is moved up by 24 hours.
August and September 2024 Payment Schedule
The initially scheduled payment date for August was Saturday, August 3rd. However, beneficiaries who started receiving their financial benefits before May 1997 will get their payment on Friday, August 2nd.
The September payment will also be made in August, specifically on Friday, August 30th. This means that two Social Security payments will be received in the same month, but it is important to note that these payments cover the months of August and September, not an additional payment.
Important Information about Social Security Payment Dates
Each individual should be aware of the details of their Social Security economic benefits, as personal data can determine payment dates for certain programs. SSI payments are made on the 1st of each month and do not rely on specific user references.
However, other financial assistance programs do follow such guidelines. For instance, the date of birth can dictate the exact payment day according to the received benefit:
- If born between the 1st and 10th, payments are made on the second Wednesday.
- If born between the 11th and 20th, payments are made on the third Wednesday.
- If born between the 21st and 31st, payments are made on the fourth Wednesday.
Other financial incentives, such as retirement, survivor, and disability programs, also follow the beneficiary’s date of birth.
