Theft and Slaughter of Horses in Miami-Dade: Local Police Ask for Help to Find the Culprits

Miami-Dade police authorities issued an alert on the social network Instagram to receive information about an incident related to the theft and slaughter of equines.

According to the post, the police department through the Agricultural Investigations Unit is investigating the fact and asks anyone with information to report it through two ways.

Anyone with information could call or send a text message to Crimestoppers305 at 738477.

The 3 animals, a horse and two mares, had been stolen from a property in the southwest of the county in the early hours of February 16, and upon starting the search, the officers found the mesh of the boundary fence cut.

Following the trail of the criminals, they found the 3 equines slaughtered near Southwest 120th street and Southwest 194th avenue, presumably killed for the consumption of the meat.

The remains of Bucephalus, Paloma, and Miranda, the 3 equines, two females and a male, were scattered in the grass torn apart.

Paloma was used to provide therapy to children with autism and other cognitive conditions, as well as to various people with mental health issues in healing activities.

The incident is being investigated to find the perpetrators of the equine massacre, a reprehensible act from every point of view, there is still no information about the culprits.

It is also unclear if this most recent incident is related to other similar ones that have occurred in the area.

In January, two specimens were also stolen with presumably the same purposes.

Also, in mid-December, another man, in this case, Cuban, was arrested for illegally selling horse meat for consumption, which is why he faces charges for the purchase, sale, or possession of this type of meat.

The region is well known for this type of criminal events, where equines are slaughtered or sold, always for consumption purposes.

Horse meat is a bit sweeter than beef and very rich in proteins and omega-3 fatty acids.

In many places around the planet, it is said that this meat could cure impotence and is appreciated as a succulent dish.
